The Policy and Procedures Work Group co-ordinates the development, dissemination and use of inter-agency policies and procedures that relate to keeping Greenwich children safe and promoting their welfare.
The Work Group reports to the GSCB Executive regarding the range of policies and procedures that we review, and we produce an annual report each year which reflects the work we have undertaken and the contribution we have made to other agencies’ policies and procedures.
The members of the Work Group are responsible for reviewing and updating local inter-agency child protection policies, procedures and practice guidance, ensuring compatibility between agencies, and compatibility with the London Child Protection Procedures and with Working Together (2006). We also advise the Board regarding the relevance and likely consequences of new legislation and guidance for the Board’s partners. In addition to this, the Work Group does its best to ensure that relevant legislation, guidance and research are incorporated into local policies, procedures and practice guidance.
Recently, the Work Group members have been involved in developing pro forma’s for professionals who are contributing information or reports to Child Protection Case Conferences. Please look on our documents page for these.
The Work Group shares its work with all the other Work Groups, particularly the Training Work Group, because of the importance of updated information being shared with professionals across the network.
The members of the Work Group include representatives from Children’s Services, Early Years services and the Council’s Neighbourhood Services, the Metropolitan Police, Greenwich Teaching Primary Care Trust and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The Chair of the Work Group is Mary Jacob, GSCB Development Officer
